Today I bit the bullet and reset the Super Clear Media site. The site had been plagued with issues. It was practically impossible to delete a vast clutter of obsolete pages. The site took forever to load. The premium theme that had been in place for years was no longer supported. All of the content and ad copy reeked. Ultimately, the site got hacked so I couldn’t even open it on my browser, nor access its backend to update and maintain it.
It was high time to start over again. First I consulted one of the courteous and helpful support engineers at my hosting company, Namecheap. They were super helpful. Following their guidance, I considered my options. I could try and fix the core WordPress files, or I could completely reset the site. I decided to start with a clean slate and do the hard reset option. I accessed the Softaculous app from the C Panel for my Namecheap site hosting. I first used the Softaculous app to back up the site and then download the back up files to a hard drive. Then I used the Softaculous app to remove the entire WordPress installation. It was simple to do this — easy as pie, really — a single click on the Softaculous app, accessed from the C Panel for my site hosting. Then I reinstalled WordPress, once again using the Softaculous app. I believe that did the trick.
Now I’ve reinstalled all of the key WordPress plugins I need as well as a top rate theme. It’s the Astra theme that has been optimized to work well with both Elementor and Woocommerce. Elementor is the industry standard drag and drop page builder. Woocommerce is WordPress’s excellent alternative to Shopify and other subscription based ecommerce platforms. I’ll cover both of these in greater depth future posts.
That’s all I have for today’s post, just a simple announcement that I’ve taken the first steps to start again from scratch with the Super Clear Media site.
